Medical Credentialing Specialist
Location: Portland, Oregon
Position Type: Full-Time
Pay: $20-28/hr
Position Summary:
The Medical Credentialing Specialist will manage the credentialing, re-credentialing, and privileging processes for medical, mental health, and alcohol & drug providers. This role involves ensuring that providers are appropriately credentialed, appointed, and privileged with health plans, and maintaining up-to-date data on licenses and certifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Compile and maintain accurate provider data.
Conduct background investigations and primary source verification.
Complete and monitor credentialing and re-credentialing applications.
Prepare credential files for approval.
Maintain documentation such as state licenses, DEA certificates, and malpractice coverage.
Stay updated on health plan and agency credentialing requirements.
Monitor provider reappointment and continuous queries.
Manage provider information in credentialing spreadsheets.
Ensure practice information is current with relevant entities.
Verify degrees and respond to credentialing inquiries.
Maintain confidentiality of provider information.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in medical credentialing or a related field preferred.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Knowledge of credentialing processes and regulatory requirements.
Excellent communication skills.
Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
