LHH is partnering with a respected national manufacturing client—headquartered in Portland, OR—to find their next Employee and Labor Relations Specialist. Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the first point of contact for employee and labor relations issues—investigating concerns, facilitating resolutions, and maintaining a fair and consistent approach
Support union and non-union workforce needs, including contract interpretation and grievance handling
Conduct thorough workplace investigations and prepare documentation and recommended actions
Partner closely with HR leadership and managers to coach on conflict resolution, performance management, and progressive discipline
Monitor employee morale and work proactively to address underlying issues impacting workplace culture
Ensure policies and procedures align with employment laws, labor agreements, and best practices
Lead or contribute to policy development and training programs around respectful workplace, anti-harassment, and employee rights
Support compliance efforts with federal, state, and local labor laws
Maintain accurate records and assist with labor reporting and audits
Collaborate cross-functionally to support organizational change, drive engagement, and champion employee well-being
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or a related field preferred
3+ years of experience in employee relations, labor relations, or human resources
Experience working with unionized environments strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and labor regulations
Proven ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion, professionalism, and fairness
Excellent conflict resolution, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems
