We’re seeking a seasoned HR Business Partner with strong union experience to join a respected and growing organization based in Portland, OR. This hybrid role offers a competitive salary of $100,000–$115,000, comprehensive medical benefits, and generous PTO starting on day one. As an HR Business Partner, you’ll serve as a strategic advisor to both employees and leadership, playing a key role in shaping the employee experience and supporting business goals. You’ll lead labor relations initiatives, provide guidance on contract interpretation, and work collaboratively with union partners to foster a respectful and compliant work environment. This role requires deep experience navigating union dynamics and a proactive approach to employee support.
Responsibilities:
Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees on HR-related matters, including employee relations, performance management, and organizational development
Support and guide union-related activities, including contract interpretation, grievance resolution, and labor-management discussions
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement HR initiatives that align with organizational goals and values
Ensure consistent application of HR policies and compliance with collective bargaining agreements and employment laws
Provide coaching and support to managers on employee engagement, development, and performance
Assist in executing workforce planning, succession planning, and change management initiatives
Requirements:
4+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, with at least 2 years in an HR Business Partner or similar advisory role
Direct experience working in union environments—comfortable interpreting CBAs, supporting grievance processes, and partnering with labor representatives
Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and employee relations
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and influence across all levels of the organization
Experience in manufacturing, healthcare, public sector, or similarly complex, regulated industries is a plus
A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a passion for supporting both employees and business goals
Pay Details: $100,000.00 to $115,000.00 per year
