Job Description:
LHH Recruitment Solutions is looking for a legal assistant to join our client’s team in Portland, Oregon. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with experience supporting attorneys in litigation matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in case management, scheduling, and document preparation, with a preference for those experienced in workers' compensation law.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and update electronic case files, including organizing documents and maintaining case status
- Handle docketing and attorney calendars, scheduling hearings, depositions, mediations, and deadlines
- Draft, edit, and prepare legal correspondence and court filings
- File pleadings with courts and agencies and ensure compliance with filing deadlines
- Process invoices, prepare attorney expense reports, and handle case-related administrative tasks
- Coordinate meetings and support attorneys by tracking time-sensitive deadlines and managing case materials
- Close case files upon matter resolution and ensure accurate recordkeeping
Qualifications:
- At least two years of experience as a legal assistant, preferably in workers’ compensation or insurance defense
- Knowledge of court filing procedures in Oregon and/or Washington
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
- Strong proofreading skills with attention to grammar, spelling, and overall clarity
- Ability to multi-task, work proactively, and identify missing information or inconsistencies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
