LHH has partnered with an amazing law firm in Portland, OR who is looking for a highly organized Legal Assistant!

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, revise, and proofread legal documents and correspondence; prepare comparison reports and assemble binders and mailings.

  • Create and maintain spreadsheets with basic formulas and develop PowerPoint presentations for internal and client use.

  • Respond to client inquiries and requests, ensuring timely and professional communication.

  • Coordinate and file legal documents with courts, including electronic and physical submissions.

  • Provide litigation support for hearings and trials, including preparation of exhibits and logistics.

  • Assist with new client onboarding, including conflict checks, file openings, and engagement letters.

  • Maintain organized systems for both electronic and physical files, ensuring proper naming conventions and storage protocols.

  • Track and enter attorney time daily; assist with monthly billing, including invoice preparation, editing narratives, and ensuring compliance with client billing guidelines.

  • Support budgeting and billing arrangements, including alternative fee structures and collections tracking.

  • Submit expense reports and process vendor invoices.

  • Conduct legal and administrative research using internal and external resources.

  • Coordinate attorney licensing renewals, CLE tracking, and other compliance-related tasks.

  • Arrange domestic and international travel, including approvals and logistics.

  • Manage calendars, schedule meetings, and maintain contact lists.

  • Provide onboarding support and mentorship to new or junior staff.

  • Offer backup support to other legal assistants and assist with firm events and marketing initiatives.

  • Perform additional administrative duties as assigned by attorneys or firm leadership.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong client service orientation with a positive, team-focused attitude.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on grammar and professionalism.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.

  • Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive legal matters.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and legal software tools.

  • Experience with legal billing systems, document management platforms, and PDF editing tools.

  • Familiarity with systems such as iManage, Litera Compare, Concur, Basware, Intapp Time, Elite, FileTrail, Adobe Acrobat Pro, DocuSign, and PS Ship is a plus.

  • Typing speed of 65+ WPM.

  • Willingness to work occasional overtime based on business needs.

  • Pay: $36 - $43 per hour

Available paid leave may include Paid Sick Leave, any other paid leave required by Federal, State, or local law, and Holiday pay upon meeting eligibility criteria.
