LHH has partnered with a great company who is looking for their next Staff Accountant in Portland, OR!

About the Role:

This position is for a proactive and detail-oriented accounting professional to support the finance operations. This role focuses on general ledger activities, trust accounting, and month-end close processes. You’ll also manage company credit cards, assist with accounts payable, and contribute to process improvements alongside the Controller.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including vendor communication and issue resolution.

  • Assist with general ledger entries and the month-end close process.

  • Oversee firm credit card accounts and reconcile receipts monthly.

  • Support year-end tax preparation, including 1099 form processing.

  • Reconcile bank statements and investigate discrepancies.

  • Respond to inquiries from colleagues, vendors, and clients regarding accounting procedures and account details.

  • Recommend improvements to accounting processes and internal controls.

  • Provide backup support for Accounts Receivable and Payroll functions.

  • Participate in special projects and research as needed.

  • Foster a collaborative and cooperative team environment.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience (3+ years in a law firm or time/billing environment preferred).

  • Strong understanding of A/P, A/R, and G/L accounting and reporting.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (LSS experience a plus) and intermediate Excel skills.

  • Excellent communication and analytical problem-solving abilities.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and meet deadlines consistently.

  • Salary: $62,000 - $75,000
