Overview:
We are hiring for a growing construction company based in Raleigh, NC, seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to manage financial operations. This role will focus on construction-related accounting tasks, including managing budgets, processing AIA payment applications, handling sales tax compliance, and maintaining the general ledger.
Key Responsibilities:
- Budget Management: Prepare, track, and manage construction project budgets. Provide financial analysis and reporting to ensure projects remain within budget.
- AIA Payment Applications: Prepare and submit AIA billing documents, including schedules of values, lien waivers, and other required documentation for payment applications.
- Sales Tax Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate filing of sales tax returns, staying up-to-date on state and local sales tax laws, particularly in the construction industry.
- General Ledger Management: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Financial Reporting: Generate and present regular financial reports to management, including job cost analysis, profit and loss statements, and cash flow projections.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Manage AP/AR processes, including vendor payments, subcontractor invoices, and customer billings.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations regarding financial reporting, taxes, and construction-specific accounting requirements.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management
- Software Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage 300, or similar construction-specific software), Microsoft Excel, and other financial tools.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction accounting practices, including AIA billing, project cost tracking, and sales tax regulations.
- Skills: Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
