Summary: LHH Recruitment Solutions is currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Legal Billing Specialist to join our client’s team. The Legal Billing Specialist will be responsible for accurately and efficiently preparing invoices, reviewing billing guidelines, and resolving any discrepancies. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of legal billing processes, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks simultaneously. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality. Responsibilities:
  • Review and analyze attorney time entries and expenses for accuracy and compliance with client billing guidelines and firm policies.
  • Prepare and distribute client invoices in a timely manner, ensuring all billable hours and expenses are properly documented and billed.
  • Coordinate with attorneys and other legal staff to resolve billing discrepancies and ensure accurate invoicing.
  • Maintain billing records, including client matter information, billing rates, and billing histories.
  • Respond to client inquiries regarding billing matters, providing detailed explanations and resolving issues as needed.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of billing procedures and best practices to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Monitor unbilled time and expenses, proactively follow up with attorneys to ensure timely billing, and minimize write-offs.
  • Generate billing reports and analysis for management review, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with the accounting department to reconcile client accounts and process payments.
  • Stay informed about changes in billing regulations, industry trends, and best practices in legal billing.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in legal billing or a similar role within a law firm or legal department.
  • Proficiency in legal billing software (e.g., Elite, Aderant, LegalTracker) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of legal billing processes, including billable hours, flat fees, and contingency arrangements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to reconcile complex billing discrepancies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with attorneys, clients, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work efficiently under tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and experience with billing reconciliations preferred.
  • Professional certification (e.g., Certified Legal Billing Specialist) is a plus.
Details: Employment Type: Contract to Hire Compensation: $55,000 – $70,000 annually Work hours: 8:00 am-5:00pm Benefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits and 401K plan.
