LHH is looking for a full time Payroll Specialist to join our client growing company in Renton, WA. This position is a direct hire role that will be on a hybrid schedule; Monday, Wednesday, Friday in person, Tuesday/Thursday remote.
Payroll Processing:
Accurately process and manage bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll cycles, including salaried, hourly, and contract employees.
Calculate and input employee work hours, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and other compensation elements.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and deductions.
Review and verify payroll data for accuracy before processing payments.
Process off-cycle payments, such as terminations and adjustments, as needed.
Data Maintenance:
Maintain accurate employee records, including personal information, tax withholding forms, direct deposit details, and deductions.
Update and reconcile payroll records with changes in employee status, benefits, and tax exemptions.
Payroll Compliance:
Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
Ensure accurate and timely submission of payroll tax reports and payments.
Assist with year-end tax reporting, including W-2 and 1099 forms.
Employee Support:
Respond promptly and professionally to employee inquiries related to payroll, deductions, and tax matters.
Address and resolve payroll discrepancies or issues in a timely manner.
Auditing and Reporting:
Conduct regular audits of payroll data to identify and rectify errors or discrepancies.
Generate and maintain payroll reports for management and accounting purposes.
Recordkeeping:
Maintain a well-organized and secure system for storing payroll records and documents.
Process Improvement:
Collaborate with HR and finance teams to streamline and enhance payroll processes.
Identify opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements in payroll procedures.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing and administration.
Proficiency in using payroll software and familiarity with HRIS systems.
Strong understanding of federal and state payroll tax regulations.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team and meet strict deadlines.
