LHH Recruitment is seeking an experienced Bilingual (English/Spanish) -Safety/Compliance Manager to join our client’s team on a temp-to-hire basis.

Job Title: Safety/Compliance Manager (Bilingual)
Location: Richmond, Texas 77469 (100% Onsite)
Duration: Temp-to-Hire (3-6 months) with potential to switch to Permanent
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $39-$44 per hour

The Safety/Compliance Manager will oversee safety compliance for truck operations, DOT regulations, MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) regulations, and overall safety protocols. This role involves ensuring that safety and compliance tasks are properly documented and carried out, including managing a small team. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience, a deep understanding of safety protocols, DOT and MSHA compliance, and the ability to drive a safety culture in a construction-like environment. Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are required to communicate effectively with a diverse team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Meetings & Onboarding: Lead onboarding and safety meetings for the pit crew, ensuring all protocols are followed.

  • Compliance Monitoring: Assist with MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) and DOT (Department of Transportation) checks to ensure compliance.

  • Truck Operations & Safety: Monitor pit truck operations, ensuring drivers follow safety procedures, including the use of dashcams.

  • MSHA Compliance: Ensure compliance with MSHA regulations, including safety training, equipment maintenance, and health hazard monitoring for mining-related or extraction activities.

  • Injury-Related Tasks: Assist with injury-related tasks and support safety procedures as needed.

  • Audit Paperwork: Review and audit safety and compliance paperwork to ensure all documents are in order.

  • Team Management: Oversee a small team (about 6 people), ensuring productivity and safety standards are met.

  • Problem-Solving: Address and resolve safety or compliance issues proactively, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.

  • Travel: Travel to multiple locations to oversee safety operations and ensure compliance across all sites.

  • Initiative: Demonstrate the ability to take initiative and proactively address what needs to be done next regarding safety operations.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience: 7+ years in safety/compliance, with at least 3 years in a management role in construction-site safety or similar high-risk industries.

  • MSHA Experience: Proven experience in managing and ensuring compliance with MSHA regulations in mining, extraction, or high-risk construction environments.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish): Proficiency in both English and Spanish is required to communicate effectively with a diverse workforce.

  • Leadership: Strong leadership abilities with a proven track record of managing a team in dynamic environments.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to proactively identify safety and compliance issues and provide effective solutions.

  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional organizational skills with a focus on ensuring safety protocols are followed by the letter.

  • Hands-On Approach: Willingness to dive into administrative tasks and compliance paperwork when needed.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with drivers, team members, and management.

  • DOT Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with Department of Transportation regulations, including audits and MVR checks.

  • Construction-Site Safety: Direct, hands-on experience in construction-site safety practices critical to managing operational safety across various locations.

Preferred Qualities:

  • Experience in a high-demand construction or extraction environment.

  • Ability to remain firm and assertive while managing a team in fast-paced settings.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • A proactive, hands-on approach to ensuring compliance and safety.

  • Geographic Scope: Ready and able to manage safety operations across multiple sites in the Houston area.
