Senior Corporate Accountant

LHH has partnered with a valued client in the Greater Richmond, VA area seeking a Corporate Senior Accountant to join their team.

Responsibilities of the Senior Corporate Accountant:

  • Financial Statements and Reporting:

    • Review and prepare financial statements and reports on a monthly basis.

    • Conduct month-end pre/post close departmental tasks, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.

    • Prepare and present financial results to the executive leadership team on a monthly basis.

    • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.

  • Accounts Payable and Payroll:

    • Process A/P checks/payments and ensure accuracy, resolve discrepancies and have excellent follow up skills.

    • Process credit card and deposit activity.

  • Budgeting and Forecasting:

    • Coordinate and prepare annual budgets.

    • Develop and maintain financial models for forecasting and budgeting purposes.

  • Technical Accounting:

    • Perform technical accounting research and provide guidance on complex accounting issues in accordance with GAAP.

    • Month End close responsibility.

    • Prepare and review technical accounting memos and documentation.

  • Internal Controls and Audit:

    • Maintain and enhance internal controls over financial reporting.

    • Coordinate with external auditors during the annual audit process.

    • Conduct internal audits and ensure adherence to internal control policies.

  • Financial Analysis:

    • Prepare and present a variety of monthly reports for management review, including financial analysis summaries, balance sheet analysis, delivery and warehouse, and inventory analysis.

    • Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and provide insights to support decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications of the Senior Corporate Accountant:

  • Education:

    • BS in Accounting or Finance.

    • CPA or CMA certification preferred.

  • Experience:

    • Full month-end financial close experience with the ability to prepare financial statements and present them to senior management.

    • Strong technical accounting skills, including experience with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.

    • Experience with financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.

  • Skills:

    • Strong MS Excel skills, including advanced functions and data analysis.

    • Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems.

    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
