LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a client to hire an experienced and detail-oriented Certified Payroll Specialist for a contract oppotunity in Roseville, CA. As a Certified Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for our construction projects, adhering to prevailing wage laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of certified payroll requirements, along with strong organizational and communication skills to work closely with both internal teams and external clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Process certified payroll for construction projects, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local prevailing wage laws.
Collect, verify, and report employee work hours, pay rates, and fringe benefits in accordance with government contracting requirements.
Prepare and submit certified payroll reports to various governmental agencies, including the Department of Labor (DOL), DIR (Department of Industrial Relations), and other relevant entities.
Maintain accurate payroll records and documents for audits and compliance reviews.
Address and resolve any payroll discrepancies or issues promptly.
Stay up-to-date with changes to prevailing wage laws, union regulations, and other compliance requirements.
Communicate with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure compliance with contract requirements and labor laws.
Assist with the preparation of union payroll reports, taxes, and other related documentation.
Support internal audits and external audits as needed, ensuring accurate and compliant payroll records.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in certified payroll processing, preferably in the construction industry.
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local prevailing wage laws and regulations.
Proficiency with certified payroll software (e.g., Viewpoint, LCPtracker, or similar).
Advanced knowledge of payroll processing, tax filings, and employee benefits.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with labor compliance and government contract reporting.
Knowledge of California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) requirements.
Familiarity with union contracts and union-specific payroll processing.
