We are actively looking to add a Project Accountant to our expanding team in our Roseville, CA office!

We’re a well-established construction firm and due to growth in our company we need to add to our staff to keep up with all of our new projects!



Our Project Accountant is a key player in bridging the gap between field operations, project management teams, and the finance department and ensures efficient financial management of multiple construction projects. Through effective communication and collaboration this role contributes significantly to the timely and budget-compliant delivery of our construction projects!

  • This is a direct hire role (no contract period)

  • The compensation for the role is 70k to 82k DOE

  • We are currently working an in-office schedule in our Roseville, CA office

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with project managers, field operations leadership, and finance teams to address all cash flow-related items, including AR billings, change order submittals, job payables, and project workflows, in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Support the VP of Field Ops. & Director of Field Ops in facilitating communication among project stakeholders, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal team members.

  • Conduct thorough reviews of job payables to prevent delays in cash receipts and ensure the smooth financial flow of projects. Research additional job financial information as needed.

  • Handle administrative tasks such as preparing invoices, estimates, and scheduling meetings.

  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of Accounts Receivable billings. Assemble billing packages, meet billing deadlines, and proactively track and support collection efforts with routine follow-ups to ensure receipt of payments, providing real-time information to the finance team.

  • Track, analyze, and report on project financials, including real-time data comparison against performance thresholds, to identify trends and enhance decision-making.

  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive financial reports for construction projects, including cost allocations, budget updates, and variance analysis.

  • Review and evaluate project-related paperwork, including contracts, to fully understand payment terms, retentions, preliminary information, etc.

  • Assist the project management team in tracking all extra work and creating documents related to change order documentation and billings.

  • Manage all Lien Releases.

  • Manage cash requirements and projections to support projects.


Required Skills/Knowledge

  • Proficient in understanding construction phases, trade scopes, equipment, and labor resources.

  • Demonstrates strong written, oral, and presentational communication skills, facilitating clear and concise information exchange.

  • Applies critical and methodical approaches to problem-solving, effectively resolving challenges encountered in estimating processes.

  • Capable of prioritizing multiple tasks, maintaining accuracy while being efficient and accurate.

  • Capable of working independently and thrives in an environment where they can take charge, contribute proactively, and analyze data, meeting reporting cadence metrics and bringing areas of concern to the attention of upper management.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, business administration, or 4 years of related work experience.

  • Previous experience in a construction-related accounting/analyst role is required

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project), Bluebeam, HCSS (HeavyJob), project management software, and document management systems.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines.

  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy in managing documentation and financial records.

  • Ability to identify issues and propose solutions in a fast-paced construction environment.

  • Collaborative attitude and willingness to work as part of a team to achieve project goals.

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and priorities.

  • Understanding of construction processes, terminology, and regulations is desirable.

  • Public Notary Required
