LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a client to hire a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Payable Specialist fo a contract opportunity in Sacramento, California. This role is integral to managing the company’s financial obligations by ensuring timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and payments. Ideally you will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
PLEASE NOTE: All duties for this role are performed at the client’s office in Sacramento, California.
Key Responsibilities
Invoice Processing: Review, verify, and process a high volume of vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
Payment Management: Prepare and process payments via check, ACH, and wire transfers; monitor accounts to ensure timely payments and address issues proactively.
Reconciliation: Reconcile accounts payable transactions and vendor statements; resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounts payable records; assist with month-end closing activities related to accounts payable, including reconciliations and accruals.
Vendor Communication: Communicate with vendors to resolve any issues related to payments or invoices; manage the accounts payable email inbox and respond to inquiries promptly and professionally.
Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures related to accounts payable; assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Expense Reporting: Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and proper documentation.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage 300 ERP) and Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables).
Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles and accounts payable processes.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external vendors.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail; ability to handle sensitive and confidential information responsibly.
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
