Insurance Underwriter
Location: Sacramento, CA (Hybrid – 1 Month Onsite Training, then Remote with Monthly Office Visits)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Salary Range: $65,000 – $85,000 (Based on Experience)
Experience Required: Minimum 5 years in prior Underwriting experience (Mortgage, Banking, Insurance…etc.)
Position Summary:
We are seeking a seasoned Insurance Underwriter to join our team in Sacramento, CA. This role begins with one month of comprehensive onsite training and transitions to a remote position, with one required office visit per month. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and experienced in evaluating risk and making sound underwriting decisions across various lines of insurance.
Key Responsibilities:
Review applications, financial documents, and risk profiles to evaluate insurance eligibility
Determine coverage amounts and premium rates in accordance with company guidelines
Collaborate with agents, brokers, and internal teams to gather necessary information and clarify details
Ensure underwriting decisions comply with regulatory and company standards
Maintain accurate and complete documentation of underwriting decisions
Participate in audits, quality reviews, and ongoing training initiatives
Monitor market trends and adjust risk assessments accordingly
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of insurance underwriting experience (commercial or personal lines)
Proven ability to assess risk, analyze data, and make independent decisions
Strong knowledge of underwriting principles, guidelines, and regulatory requirements
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field preferred
