Job Posting: Paralegal - Litigation Team
Location: Sacramento, CA (Hybrid)
Position Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Paralegal to join their Litigation Team in Sacramento. This role involves providing comprehensive support to attorneys throughout all stages of litigation, from case initiation to post-trial activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills, a proactive attitude, and excellent communication abilities to ensure efficient and accurate task completion.
Key Responsibilities:
Support attorneys in all phases of litigation, including case preparation, discovery, and trial support.
Organize and maintain case-related documents and materials, ensuring they are client-presentable and efficiently utilized.
Manage the discovery process, including preparing for depositions, responding to written discovery, and handling expert discovery.
Conduct document reviews and productions, track review progress, and prepare related documentation.
Perform legal research, including locating cases, statutes, and regulatory materials, and conduct fact research using tools like Westlaw and Lexis.
Assist with law and motion practice, including assembling motion papers, coordinating filings, and ensuring proper service.
Draft common pleadings, motions, notices, and other court filings.
Ensure compliance with federal and state procedural rules and evidence requirements.
Perform authority and fact cite-checking, proofread briefs, and other legal documents.
Support trial preparations, including creating trial notebooks, organizing exhibits, coordinating witness schedules, and maintaining trial calendars.
Assist in post-trial filings and organize cases for appeal if necessary.
Maintain accurate timekeeping records daily.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Skills & Competencies:
Professional communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel.
Ability to work efficiently in a remote environment.
Strong attention to detail, reliability, and organizational skills.
Excellent client service skills and the ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously with minimal supervision.
Proficiency in drafting clear and concise memoranda, fact summaries, pleadings, and other documents.
Flexibility and the ability to respond positively to shifting demands.
Education & Prior Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree required; Certificate in Paralegal studies from an accredited institution preferred.
Certified Paralegal is a plus.
Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Litigation Paralegal within a law firm, with demonstrated knowledge of complex litigation issues.
Exceptional computer skills and the ability to learn new software applications quickly.
Bluebook and trial skills required.
Trial experience, including exhibit preparation, witness preparation, subpoena preparation, and courtroom assistance.
Technology:
Proficiency in Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
Experience with E-filing and litigation support applications such as Relativity, Opus 2, and Adobe Acrobat.
Compensation:
The expected pay range for this position is $45.29 to $64.27 per hour.
