Job Description: Human Resources Specialist

Position: Human Resources Specialist
Location: Onsite in Salem, Oregon
Overview: As the Human Resources Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the organization operates smoothly and effectively by overseeing all aspects of human resources management. You will be responsible for implementing and evaluating HR policies, programs, and practices, fostering a positive work environment grounded in open communication and supportive interactions.
Essential Job Duties:

  1. Enhance the organization’s human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and HR policies.

  2. Administer payroll system and oversee monthly payroll processing.

  3. Support organization staff by managing recruitment processes, conducting interviews, and advising managers on candidate selection.

  4. Conduct orientation and training programs to prepare employees for assignments.

  5. Monitor employee work results, coach managers on effective employee management, resolve grievances, and counsel employees and supervisors.

  6. Implement employee benefits programs, assess benefit needs, recommend programs to management, and manage benefit claims processing.

  7. Ensure legal compliance with federal and state HR requirements, conduct investigations, maintain records, and represent the organization at hearings.

  8. Prepare, update, and recommend HR policies and procedures.

  9. Design and maintain a system for managing historical HR records.

  10. Counsel and discipline employees as necessary, and monitor and appraise HR staff job results.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to handle conflict situations calmly and decisively.

  • Thorough knowledge of federal and state labor laws.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and MS Outlook applications.

  • Valid OR State Driver’s License and ability to use own vehicle for occasional business purposes.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum BA college degree required; post-graduate degree preferred .

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar HR position.
