Position: Purchasing Manager
Location: Salem, Oregon
Schedule: Monday - Friday, negotiable 8-hour schedule (hybrid work arrangement available)
Job Overview: As the Purchasing Manager, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the demand management, purchasing, and supplier coordination processes for food grade commodities. Your responsibilities will include developing and nurturing global supplier relationships, managing supplier selection and qualification, monitoring supplier performance, and ensuring cost control and risk mitigation strategies are in place.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Issue purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Onboard new suppliers and conduct supplier qualification processes.
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally to coordinate sourcing activities.
  • Maintain thorough market knowledge to inform purchasing decisions.
  • Utilize supply chain analytics for demand forecasting and network optimization.
  • Monitor and report on supplier performance metrics.
  • Resolve supplier issues and manage supplier contracts effectively.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed for trade shows and supplier visits.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, production engineering, or related field; or equivalent professional experience (minimum 3 years) in a supply-chain related role.
  • Experience in purchasing within the Food and Beverage industry is required.
  • Proficiency in supply chain analytics and tools such as demand forecasting, network flow modeling, and optimization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on practical solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel - including pivot tables, charts, and solver).
  • Ability to adapt to new software and systems quickly.
Preferred Skills:
  • Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and capable of self-direction.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to safety, quality, and sustainability practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
