We’re seeking a motivated Utilization Management Inpatient (UM IP) Clinical Specialist!
Who you are
Bringing clinical expertise—inpatient hospital experience.
Strong communicator, both in writing and in conversation.
Detail-oriented, organized, and a problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced environments.
Comfortable navigating health care systems, EMRs, and Microsoft Office applications.
Confident with medical terminology, anatomy, and coding (CPT, DX, HCPCs).
A supportive teammate who enjoys mentoring others and continuous improvement.
What You’ll do
Support Inpatient Utilization Management (UM) cases by researching documentation and requests from multiple sources.
Collaborate with licensed health professionals—no clinical decision-making required, but your partnership and insights will be invaluable.
Ensure completeness of case information, gather missing details, and prepare cases for clinical review.
Handle non-clinical tasks and coordinate communication within and across teams.
Document admissions, discharges, and initiate referrals to high-cost claimant and care management as needed.
Send notifications to providers, request medical records, and support compliance with regulatory and quality standards.
Keep all reference materials organized and accessible, adhering to performance criteria for accuracy, timeliness, and quality.
Contribute to system improvements and, if needed, assist with software testing.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; CMA or CNA preferred.
A minimum of 2 years of recent inpatient hospital experience, or an equivalent blend of education and experience.
Intermediate computer proficiency and experience with EMRs and healthcare documentation.
Ability to work independently, prioritize, and consistently meet deadlines.
Excellent organization and data entry skills.
Team player with an eagerness to support and mentor colleagues.
Work Environment
Remote positions available to candidates residing in Idaho, Washington, Utah, or Oregon. Applicants outside of these states will not be contacted or considered.
Weekend coverage and occasional overtime may be required.
6 month contract with possible extension.
Reliable internet connectivity (Cable, DSL, or Fiber only) is required for remote work; satellite and mobile WiFi are not supported.
Pay Details: $21.00 to $23.00 per hour
