LHH is partnering with a well-established construction company based in San Diego, California, specializing in a wide range of construction projects. They are dedicated to delivering high-quality construction services while ensuring compliance with all relevant labor laws and regulations. To support their commitment to transparency and compliance, they are currently seeking a Certified Payroll Specialist to join their team in San Diego, CA.
Position Summary: The Certified Payroll Specialist will play a critical role in our client’s construction projects by ensuring accurate and compliant payroll processing for all construction personnel. This role is vital in maintaining transparency and adherence to prevailing wage requirements, labor laws, and regulations while upholding our commitment to excellence in construction.
Key Responsibilities:
Certified Payroll Processing: Prepare certified payroll reports for all construction projects in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Verify hours worked, wage rates, deductions, and other payroll-related information. Maintain accurate records of all certified payroll reports.
Prevailing Wage Compliance: Ensure adherence to prevailing wage rates, apprenticeship requirements, and other regulatory mandates. Stay up-to-date with changing prevailing wage rates and regulations to ensure compliance.
Contractor and Subcontractor Coordination: Collaborate with contractors and subcontractors to collect and review certified payroll reports for accuracy and compliance. Address inquiries and resolve any discrepancies related to payroll issues.
Reporting and Documentation: Generate and submit certified payroll reports to government agencies and project owners as required. Maintain organized and accessible records of all payroll-related documents for auditing purposes.
Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits related to certified payroll and labor compliance. Provide accurate documentation and support during audit processes.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline and improve the certified payroll process. Recommend and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework in accounting, finance, or a related field is a plus.
2+ years of experience in certified payroll processing within the construction industry.
Thorough knowledge of federal and state labor laws, prevailing wage requirements, and certified payroll regulations.
Proficiency in using payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with project teams, contractors, and government agencies.
Pay Details: $29.00 to $32.00 per hour
