Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a skilled Construction Accountant to oversee financial operations specific to construction projects. This role will play a crucial part in maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing costs, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction accounting principles and experience working with project management teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee all accounting activities related to construction projects.
Monitor project costs, budgets, and expenditures throughout the project lifecycle.
Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and forecasts for construction projects.
Perform cost analysis and variance analysis to identify areas of improvement and efficiency.
Ensure timely and accurate processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable specific to construction contracts.
Collaborate with project managers to provide financial insights and support decision-making.
Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to construction accounting.
Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries as needed.
Assist in the preparation of bids, proposals, and financial models for new projects.
Participate in audits and provide necessary documentation and support.
Experience and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA certification is a plus.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction accounting or related field.
Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, including job costing and revenue recognition.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage 300 Construction, Procore) and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
Experience with financial reporting for construction projects preferred.
