Position Overview:

Our client is seeking a skilled Construction Accountant to oversee financial operations specific to construction projects. This role will play a crucial part in maintaining accurate financial records, analyzing costs, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction accounting principles and experience working with project management teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee all accounting activities related to construction projects.

  • Monitor project costs, budgets, and expenditures throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and forecasts for construction projects.

  • Perform cost analysis and variance analysis to identify areas of improvement and efficiency.

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable specific to construction contracts.

  • Collaborate with project managers to provide financial insights and support decision-making.

  • Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to construction accounting.

  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries as needed.

  • Assist in the preparation of bids, proposals, and financial models for new projects.

  • Participate in audits and provide necessary documentation and support.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA certification is a plus.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction accounting or related field.

  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, including job costing and revenue recognition.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage 300 Construction, Procore) and Microsoft Excel.

  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and trends.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.

  • Experience with financial reporting for construction projects preferred.
