Now Hiring: Payroll Manager in San Diego, CA

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Payroll Manager to join a mission-driven non-profit organization based in El Cajon. This is a full-time, in-office position offering the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while leading payroll operations for a large and growing team.

Position Details:
  • Employment Type: Direct Hire
  • Location: El Cajon, CA (On-site)
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Salary Range: $80,000–$90,000 annually

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process and manage payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Oversee bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll cycles for a large organization
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure proper documentation for audits and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws, tax regulations, and organizational policies
  • Coordinate with HR and Finance to ensure accurate employee data, benefits deductions, and general ledger postings
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Lead or support payroll system implementations and upgrades (e.g., Paycom, UKG, Great Plains, Sage)
  • Generate and analyze payroll reports using Excel and other tools to support decision-making and audits
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, timekeeping, and deductions in a timely and professional manner
  • Collaborate with external vendors (e.g., benefits providers, tax agencies) as needed
  • Train and supervise payroll staff (if applicable) and ensure adherence to best practices
  • Support year-end processes, including W-2 preparation, tax filings, and audits

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5+ years of payroll processing experience for large organizations (200+ employees)
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Non-Profit experience preferred, but not required
  • Proficiency in payroll and accounting systems such as: Paycom, UKG, Great Plains, Sage
  • Experience with software implementation is a plus
