Job Title: Payroll Specialist
Location: San Diego, CA 92111 (Hybrid Work Model)
Job Type: Direct Hire
Salary Range: $28 - $35 per hour

Job Summary:
A prominent organization is looking for a detail-oriented and dedicated Payroll Specialist to join their team. This role involves overseeing and processing payroll for a substantial workforce, ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to manage sensitive information with the highest level of discretion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Payroll Processing: Execute accurate and timely payroll processing, ensuring all employee payments are correct and compliant with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Data Management: Maintain and update payroll records, including employee information, earnings, deductions, and other payroll-related data.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about changes in payroll laws and regulations, ensuring the company's payroll practices remain compliant.
  • Issue Resolution: Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries and discrepancies, providing clear and effective communication to employees.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with HR and finance teams to ensure seamless integration of payroll data with other business processes.
  • Reporting: Generate and distribute payroll reports to management, highlighting key metrics and any areas of concern.
  • System Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance and optimization of payroll software and systems, ensuring they are functioning efficiently and effectively.
  • Audit Support: Participate in internal and external payroll audits, providing necessary documentation and information as required.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • At least one year of payroll experience.
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to navigate spreadsheets and perform VLOOKUPs or Pivot Tables.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP).
    • Experience with payroll software such as UKG or ADP Workforce Now (WFN).
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Work Environment:
  • Hybrid Work Model: Ability to work from home two days a week after initial training.
  • Team Environment: Join a supportive team of payroll professionals, working under the guidance of an experienced payroll manager.

Pay Details: $28.00 to $35.00 per hour
