Job Title: Office Associate
Location: Oakland, CA (Onsite)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay: $22–$24 per hour

Overview:

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Office Associate to join a healthcare team in Oakland. This full-time onsite role provides essential clerical and administrative support to a department within a medical setting. The ideal candidate will bring experience from a healthcare environment and demonstrate the ability to work independently while providing excellent customer service to patients, families, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain clinic charts

  • Process referrals through facsimile and RMO system

  • Greet and assist families; provide directions and information

  • Accurately gather and input patient demographic data

  • Schedule patient appointments per departmental guidelines

  • Verify insurance eligibility and maintain knowledge of contracted payers

  • Register patients using Meditech

  • Process billing and post payments in accordance with policy

  • Assist families with completing various forms and documentation

  • Obtain and issue authorizations and referrals as needed

  • Support incoming phone queue and maintain appointment schedules

  • Arrange interpreter services as needed

  • Participate in departmental meetings and professional development opportunities

  • Comply with hospital policies, customer service standards, and safety protocols

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a physician office, hospital, or medical office setting

  • At least 1 year of experience in the medical field with knowledge of insurance eligibility and contracted payers

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Effective problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities

  • Must be able to work under pressure and manage interruptions

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; minimum typing speed of 55 WPM

  • Experience with Meditech (preferred)

This role does not require supervisory responsibilities or specific licenses or certifications.



Pay Details: $22.00 to $24.00 per hour
