LHH is partnering with a well known Non-Profit in the San Francisco area where they truly value company culture. They are currently looking for a Staff Accountant with four plus years of experiences preferably within a Non-Profit.
Key Responsibilities:
Set up vendors, update vendor contact information, and ensure accurate use tax compliance and 1099 reporting for non-employee compensation.
Responsible for the reconciliation of multiple bank accounts, ensuring accuracy of the cash accounts, and overseeing and tracking of all bank account changes.
Coordinate and resolve various issues with bank such as cleared check differences and bank fee anomalies.
Responsible for the recording of various earned income
Perform reconciliation of fixed asset subledgers and construction accounting for various building projects. Responsible for the calculation and recording of the depreciation of fixed assets and the investigation of assets’ potential obsolescence.
Review and prepare recurring and non-recurring journal entries for month-end and year-end closings.
Assist with documenting policies, procedures, and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility. Identify and provide suggestions with regards to changes and improvements.
Review and prepare monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
Responsible for recording and reconciling accounts receivable.
Responsible for the accuracy of the general ledger; review and post entries and transactions to the accounting system.
Assist in preparation of not-for-profit tax form 990 and 990T
Prepare various annuals filings such as: form 571-L, Annual Capital Expenditures Survey and Information & Communication Technology Survey
Assist with external year-end financial audit, and other regulatory audits and reviews. Prepare interim and year-end audit schedules.
Respond to staff inquiries relating to fiscal and banking matters.
Perform the duties of the Accounting Manager and Senior Accounts Payable Accountant in his/her absence.
Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Accounting is a plus
Minimum of four (4) years of accounting experience, non-profit and public accounting experience preferred.
Understanding of GAAP and ability to apply GAAP to analyze accounts and perform account reconciliations.
Demonstrated attention to detail and proven accuracy.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Ability to satisfy deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with staff, vendors, and members of the general public.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to use good judgment, work independently and meet deadlines.
Ability to handle and safeguard confidential matters, data and reports
