Benefits Specialist | San Jose

Join our client’s esteemed Human Resources department in this temporary role as the Benefits Specialist, where you'll manage and administer their comprehensive benefits programs, spanning from retirement plans to health insurance and beyond. As a pivotal figure on their team, you'll play a key role in developing top-tier benefits packages, fostering employee engagement, and fortifying their reputation as an exceptional workplace.

Responsibilities:

Benefits Support:

  • Conduct benefits orientations for new hires and organize informational sessions to keep employees informed about benefits updates.

  • Administer all benefits programs including Medical, Dental, Vision, Spending accounts, STD/LTD, and voluntary benefits in conjunction with our broker.

  • Delivers excellent customer service by promptly addressing inquiries and concerns via phone and email.

  • Perform daily administrative tasks such as processing life events and reviewing/approving benefit changes in the HRIS system.

  • Develop and maintain administrative procedures related to benefits administration.

  • Assist in creating communications regarding new plans and policies, ensuring employees and HR are informed.

Leave of Absence Support:

  • Manage day-to-day Leave of Absence requests in collaboration with our Third-Party Administrator (TPA).

  • Ensure all Leave of Absence cases comply with company policies and applicable regulations, maintaining professionalism and empathy throughout the process.

  • Serves as the main point of contact for employees on leave, providing support, guidance, and clear communication regarding timelines and return-to-work expectations.

  • Coordinate with supervisors, managers, HR Business Partners (HRBPs), and legal teams as needed for accommodation requests and compliance issues.

  • Collaborate with external vendors and legal counsel to ensure accurate compensation and compliance.

  • Provide updates on employee statuses and payments for Leave of Absence prior to each payroll cycle.

Wellness:

  • Assist in communicating and supporting quarterly wellness initiatives.

  • Coordinate quarterly wellness challenges and events, including the ordering and distribution of wellness awards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, HR, or related field; or equivalent work experience.

  • 3+ years of dedicated experience in benefits administration, with emphasis on health benefits, compensation, and annual open enrollment.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey accurate information to a diverse audience.

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, HRIS systems, and vendor platforms.

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with internal departments and external partners.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and varying priorities.

  • Flexibility to adapt to changes in a dynamic work environment.

Compensation and Schedule:

· Pay: $35-$41/hr based on experience.

· Location: Morgan Hill, CA

· Office Schedule: This is a contract role that will require On-site presence required Monday through Friday during standard business hours.
