LHH is looking for a full-time Accounts Payable Accountant to join our client growing company in Seattle, WA. This position will be a 6-month contract that is fully onsite at the client location.

Job Summary:

The Accounts Payable Accountant is responsible for overseeing the company’s accounts payable process, ensuring accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions related to vendor payments. This role combines hands-on processing duties with higher-level accounting responsibilities, including reconciliations, reporting, and compliance with company policies and regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Invoice Processing and Reconciliation:

  • Review, verify, and process invoices, ensuring accuracy and proper authorization.

  • Match invoices to purchase orders and resolve discrepancies with vendors and internal departments.

  • Reconcile AP accounts and vendor statements to ensure all payments are accurately recorded.

  1. Payment Execution:

  • Prepare and process payment runs, including ACH, wire transfers, and checks.

  • Ensure payments comply with vendor terms and internal controls.

  • Maintain accurate payment records and manage payment schedules.

  1. General Ledger and Month-End Close:

  • Post accounts payable transactions to the general ledger.

  • Assist in month-end and year-end close activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and reporting.

  • Prepare journal entries for adjustments and corrections as needed.

  1. Vendor Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for vendor inquiries and disputes.

  • Maintain positive relationships with vendors while ensuring adherence to payment terms.

  • Manage vendor onboarding and maintain accurate records, including W-9s and tax documents.

  1. Compliance and Audit Support:

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, tax regulations, and applicable accounting standards.

  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and reports.

  1. Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities to streamline the accounts payable process and improve efficiency.

  • Assist in the implementation and optimization of AP-related systems and tools.


Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

  • 3-5 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and AP processes.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.

  • Exceptional organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to work independently.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Other Requirements:

  • Experience with ERP systems and AP automation tools is highly preferred.

  • Knowledge of tax compliance related to AP (e.g., 1099, VAT).

  • CPA or similar certification is a plus but not required.

Compensation: $30-$35/hour DOE
