About the Role:
LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a dedicated and experienced Patient Intake Coordinator for an established healthcare client. This role is pivotal in ensuring seamless clinic intake operations and providing exceptional patient care in an oncology outpatient setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in oncology, EPIC systems, and ambulatory settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Appointment Scheduling: Efficiently schedule and adjust appointments based on patient conditions and clinic availability. Coordinate with various departments to ensure smooth patient flow.
Patient Coordination: Contact patients regarding appointments, changes, and follow-up calls. Manage inpatient admissions and act as a courier for confidential patient materials.
Record Management: Complete initial prospectus for new patients, obtain and prepare pertinent records, and ensure accurate documentation in electronic medical records.
Insurance Verification: Verify patient insurance coverage, obtain necessary referrals/authorizations, and assist in resolving billing issues.
Office Support: Distribute clinic mail and faxes, maintain office supplies and equipment, and provide backup support to other clinic staff as needed.
Patient Advocacy: Act as a patient advocate, addressing special needs and ensuring safe patient care outcomes. Provide information on oncology support services.
Communication: Answer multiple phone lines, triage calls, and use paging systems effectively. Communicate pertinent patient information to appropriate caregivers.
Emergency Response: Recognize and respond to patient, facility, and environmental emergencies, acting as a resource during such situations.
Qualifications:
Oncology Experience: Must have experience in an oncology outpatient setting.
EPIC Systems: Proficiency in EPIC systems is essential.
Ambulatory Setting: Experience working in an ambulatory/outpatient setting with the ability to check charts and medical records.
Critical Thinking: Strong decision-making skills and the ability to manage multiple interruptions while maintaining a helpful demeanor.
Compassion and Sensitivity: Exceptional compassion and sensitivity unique to oncology patients.
