LHH is looking for a full-time Payroll Clerk to join our client growing company in Seattle, WA. This position will be a 6-month contract that is fully onsite at the client location.
Job Summary:
The Payroll Clerk is responsible for supporting the payroll team in the accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees. This position involves data entry, verification, and maintenance of payroll records, as well as addressing employee inquiries related to payroll. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and basic knowledge of payroll processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Data Entry and Processing
Accurately enter employee time and attendance information into payroll systems.
Prepare and process payroll adjustments, such as deductions, bonuses, and time-off accruals.
Assist in verifying payroll information for accuracy, including hours worked, deductions, and tax withholdings.
Record-Keeping and Documentation
Maintain payroll files and records, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
Assist in updating employee information in payroll systems, including address changes, direct deposit updates, and tax withholdings.
Ensure confidentiality and security of employee payroll information.
Employee Support
Respond to basic payroll inquiries from employees regarding pay, deductions, and general payroll procedures.
Assist employees with self-service payroll system navigation, where applicable.
Compliance Support
Assist the payroll team in ensuring payroll processes comply with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
Support the preparation of payroll reports and documentation for internal audits or external reviews as needed.
General Administrative Support
Assist the payroll team with general administrative tasks, including filing, scanning, and preparing payroll reports.
Participate in special projects or tasks to support the payroll team as needed.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in accounting or finance preferred.
Experience: 1-2 years of experience in data entry, payroll, accounting, or related field preferred.
Skills:
Basic understanding of payroll practices and procedures.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and familiarity with payroll software.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, etc.).
Basic knowledge of wage and hour laws.
Compensation: $28-$30/hour DOE
