LHH is looking for a full-time Payroll Specialist to join our client-growing company in Seattle, WA. This position will be a 6-month contract that is fully onsite at the client location.



Job Summary:


We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Specialist to join our HR and finance team. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll, ensuring compliance with payroll regulations, and maintaining accurate payroll records. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of payroll processes, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Payroll Processing: Accurately process bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payrolls for all employees, including salaried, hourly, and contract workers.


  • Timekeeping: Review and verify timekeeping records, ensuring accurate reporting of hours worked, overtime, and paid time off (PTO).


  • Deductions and Withholdings: Calculate and process payroll deductions, including taxes, benefits, garnishments, and retirement contributions.


  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax filings, wage and hour laws, and reporting requirements.


  • Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate payroll records and employee information in the payroll system, including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates or benefits.


  • Reporting: Prepare and distribute payroll reports, including earnings statements, payroll summaries, and tax filings.


  • Benefits Administration: Coordinate with HR to ensure accurate processing of benefits-related deductions and contributions.


  • Tax Compliance: Assist with the preparation and submission of payroll tax filings, including W-2s, 1099s, and other required documents.


  • Problem Resolution: Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries and discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.


  • Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary payroll documentation and reports.


  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes and improve accuracy and efficiency.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field (preferred).


  • 2-4 years of experience in payroll processing or a related role.


  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and best practices.


  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.


  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.


  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.


  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.


  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.


Compensation: $35-$38/hour DOE
