Sr. Trade Compliance Analyst

Our client in Secaucus, NJ is looking to hire a Trade Compliance Analyst. Job Summary: The Trade Compliance Analyst is responsible for supply chain data analysis, with a focus on tariffs and freight costs. This role plays a critical part in providing insightful analysis for our multinational import business. Additionally, the individual will assist with internal controls and drive improvements in key processes.
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Maintain records for import and export day-to-day entry filings and activities.
- Support classification in the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, Schedule B, and Harmonized System Code to ensure compliant imports and exports, duty savings, and overall program benefits.
- Evaluate documentation associated with imports and exports prior to shipment for accuracy and duty drawback opportunities.
- Support post-entry corrections as necessary and maintain all related records.
- Create reporting metrics for internal audits, clearance accuracy, duty, tax, and other visibility needs.
- Assist in implementing corrective actions resulting from internal audits and compliance issues.
- Monitor all import and export transactions to ensure conformance with the laws and regulations of the involved countries.
- Handle basic issues and problems under supervision, escalating more complex issues to the appropriate staff or team.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in freight forwarding, ocean/air logistics, international transportation, or E-commerce preferred.
- Experience with import trade activities and customs compliance is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with SAP is preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUPs).
- Demonstrated ability to use critical thinking for problem-solving.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Excellent communication, written, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated willingness to learn new skills and responsibilities
