In this role, the Staff Thermal Technical Program Manager will have the key duty of overseeing the administration and implementation of thermal cooling solutions for server and storage platform initiatives across their entire lifecycle. This entails guiding the design and development processes from initial product conceptualization and project planning, all the way through production, product launch, and eventual retirement.



Responsibilities:



  • Oversee and monitor the progress of thermal-related tasks from the initial concept phase through production and ongoing support, spanning a range of server and storage platforms. Ensure that thermal solutions are delivered within specified timelines.


  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the implementation of thermal fan speed control aligns with the firmware schedule and overall program execution timeline.


  • Take charge of cross-functional meetings involving hardware, firmware, and thermal teams to resolve thermal-related issues effectively.


  • Arrange meetings with fan and heatsink suppliers, working in conjunction with procurement, to gather information on their technology roadmaps.


  • Organize in-depth thermal discussions with CPU partners and other ASIC companies as necessary to collect technical documentation.


  • Maintain 24/7 management of thermal chamber allocation, prioritizing tasks based on customer and program needs.


  • Collaborate with the company's legal and third-party labs to establish necessary agreements like NDAs and purchase orders to facilitate third-party testing when required.


  • Optimize the utilization of the company's thermal resources.


  • Offer customers the opportunity to take tours of our thermal lab and provide demonstrations during their visits to our facility



Requirements:



  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering


  • 5+ years of experience in thermal design


  • 5+ years experience as lead


  • Considerable expertise and practical familiarity with thermal chambers, thermocouples, data loggers, thermal testing equipment, fans, heatsinks, and thermal interface materials, among other related tools and instruments.


  • Proven experience in thermal design for servers and storage platforms.


  • Demonstrated experience in the development and optimization of thermal fan speed control algorithms.


  • Proficiency in executing benchmarks such as SPEC power and performance.


  • Hands-on experience in working with thermal chambers and thermal laboratories.


  • A solid grasp of thermal Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software like FloTherm.


  • Effective management of cross-functional teams, supported by strong interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt communication style as needed.


  • Demonstrated skills in project management, including the development of schedules and tracking progress towards key milestones
