LHH is looking for a full-time Payroll Specialist to join our client growing company in Tacoma, WA. This position will be a 6-month contract with the potential to turn permanent, that is fully onsite at the client location.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Payroll Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll, maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and providing support to employees regarding payroll-related matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and manage the company’s payroll cycle, including calculating wages, salaries, deductions, bonuses, and commissions.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.

  • Maintain accurate payroll records, including employee information, timesheets, and adjustments.

  • Address and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner.

  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management as required.

  • Reconcile payroll-related accounts and assist in audits.

  • Stay up-to-date on changes in payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance.

  • Coordinate with the HR and Finance departments to process new hires, terminations, and changes to employee status or compensation.

  • Manage and submit payroll taxes, garnishments, and other withholdings.

  • Ensure the integrity and confidentiality of payroll data.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).

  • Experience: Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist, Payroll Administrator, or similar role (typically 2+ years).

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or similar platforms) and Microsoft Excel.

  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of payroll processes, labor laws, and tax regulations.

  • Soft Skills: Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus.

  • Experience working with multi-state payrolls or international payrolls.

  • Familiarity with accounting systems or general ledger reconciliation.

Compensation: $25-$32/hour DOE
