LHH Recruitment Solutions is currently seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Legal Assistant to join a well-established law firm in Tampa, FL. Medical malpractice defense experience is a plus! This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled legal assistant to contribute to a dynamic legal team while providing support in high-stakes litigation cases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in all phases of litigation, from pre-trial to post-trial.

  • Draft, edit, and file legal documents including motions, pleadings, discovery requests, and subpoenas.

  • Prepare and manage discovery responses, medical records, and expert witness reports, especially in medical malpractice cases.

  • Coordinate and schedule depositions, hearings, and trials.

  • Communicate with clients, witnesses, and experts to gather information and provide case updates.

  • Organize and maintain case files, ensuring all documents are up-to-date and compliant with court requirements.

  • Conduct legal research and assist with trial preparation.

  • Manage attorney calendars and track important deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a legal assistant, preferably with a focus on insurance defense and/or medical malpractice.

  • Strong understanding of litigation procedures and the ability to manage complex case files.

  • Proficient in legal software and case management tools (e.g., Clio, Relativity, etc.).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

  • Strong research and drafting skills.

  • A positive attitude and a commitment to client service.

Preferred:

  • Experience with medical malpractice defense cases is highly preferred.

  • Knowledge of Florida rules and court procedures is a plus.
