Position Overview:

We are looking for a qualified Texas Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) for our office in The Woodlands, Texas. This role involves managing and expanding the office's survey business with support from the Survey Division Manager and Location Manager. Key responsibilities include boundary surveys, design surveys, crew scheduling, proposals, and business development.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review project survey requirements and develop a written plan to execute the necessary activities.

  • Request assignment of personnel and equipment needed to carry out survey activities.

  • Orient survey personnel on company values, safety, survey policies and procedures, and project schedules. Assign tasks and explain documentation requirements, ensuring personnel are capable of performing their tasks.

  • Monitor survey personnel’s performance, documentation, conduct, work ethics, and interactions with others. Provide guidance, coaching, motivation, or discipline as needed.

  • Oversee survey tasks to ensure compliance with project requirements. Identify changes in work scope, schedule, or budget and implement necessary actions to maintain progress and budgeted costs. Document any required changes.

  • Process and review survey data for completeness and accuracy.

  • Monitor documentation control and filing systems to ensure ready storage and retrieval of project documents, records, and reports.

  • Maintain close communication with the Project Manager/Client Representative to report survey progress, address problems, and resolve pertinent issues.

  • Review all survey personnel time and expense reports for completeness, accuracy, and approval.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying, Cartography, or other Land Information Sciences.

  • RPLS registered in Texas with the capability to register in other states.

  • Experience with TxDOT projects.

  • Minimum of five years of surveying experience with previous supervisory roles.

  • Knowledgeable in cross-country utility surveying methods and techniques.

  • Five years of combined surveying and mapping experience.

  • Proficient in GPS survey methods, electronic data collection, and the processes and computer programs necessary for survey data review and transfer to mapping.

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (no exceptions).
