Summary:
Oversee the day-to-day paving operations activities
Job Duties:
Train foreman and other superintendents to adopt a collaborative approach to leadership and to improve communications on the job site.
Conduct regular jobsite quality control inspections to ensure compliance with contract standards and deliver the highest quality product. Promote quality assurance throughout all phases of work. Regularly visit all job sites to observe and evaluate productivity, quality, safety, and the scheduling of manpower and equipment. Prepare and submit necessary reports as required.
Collaboratively attend or designate a representative to attend pre-planning and preconstruction meetings with Estimators, Superintendents, and Foremen for each job. Provide assistance to Estimators with bid preparation when requested.
Ensure that "essential information" is communicated to paving foremen after each preplanning and preconstruction meeting through a standardized report format.
Evaluate all projects to optimize equipment and manpower efficiency. Review job costs, manpower, and equipment utilization reports. Inspect equipment to monitor for abuse, neglect, repairs, and utilization. Collaborate with the Equipment Manager to recommend new and additional equipment needs.
Experience:
8 to 10 years of field construction/paving experience. 3+ years in a leadership position preferred.
State Highway experience is a plus.
