Job Posting: Payroll Administrator (Canadian Payroll Experience Required)

Overview:

LHH Recruitment Solutions is proud to support a well-established, nationwide client based in Troy, MI, currently in growth mode. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Administrator with a strong background in Canadian payroll processing.

Key Responsibilities:

- Process and manage Canadian payroll in compliance with federal and provincial regulations.

- Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure timely payments.

- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to resolve payroll discrepancies.

- Support audits and reporting requirements as needed.

- Maintain internal controls and perform regular audits to ensure alignment between payroll systems and general ledger reporting.

- Process payroll hours, earnings, and deductions in compliance with company policies and labor regulations.

- Proactively identify system issues or discrepancies and collaborate with leadership to implement solutions.

- Perform biweekly reconciliation and updates of payroll-related balance sheet accounts.

- Accurately enter and maintain employee data, including onboarding, terminations, compensation adjustments, and updates to tax and address information.

- Review and validate weekly time submissions from multiple locations to ensure compliance with labor regulations and internal financial policies.

- Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries, managing a help desk and providing timely, accurate support to field personnel.

- Prepare certified payroll documentation as required for specific projects or contracts.

Qualifications:

- Proven experience with Canadian payroll systems and legislation.

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

- Experience with payroll software and Microsoft Excel.

- Need to have a solid understanding of payroll from the accounting perspective (experience with time tracking & attendance won’t be sufficient).

- Knowledge of credits/debits, batch balancing, reconciliation.

Hours:

Mon – Fri, 8 AM – 5 PM. May have some overtime in the beginning during training, but for the most part the team works 40 hours, maybe an occasional 41 hour work week (unpaid lunch / non-exempt role).

Education:

Degree preferred, but will prioritize work experience over formal degree.

Compensation:

Pay: $28 – 30/hour (non-exempt; OT eligible)

Pre-Employment Screening (will be run by client):

- 7 year background check.

- Drug screen (will include THC).



Pay Details: $28.00 to $30.00 per hour
