Job Summary: The Purchasing Clerk will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing raw and non-raw materials, coordinating their scheduling and delivery to ensure continuous supply for production. This role involves managing raw material master data and ensuring the best value for expenditures.
Minimum Education:
- Associate's Degree preferred but not required
- High School Diploma required
Experience: 1-2 years of experience in Supply Planning
Preferred Requirements:
- Negotiation skills and experience working with vendors to reduce costs or improve value
- Strong computer and administrative skills, including stock management and purchasing systems
- Knowledge of ERP systems
- Ability to understand and follow complex instructions
- Ability to work cooperatively with peers and internal customers to solve problems
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
- Previous experience in production processes is preferred
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 25 pounds
- Good knowledge of purchasing and inventory management
- Good time management skills and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Ability to evaluate information from various sources
- Experience in a technical environment
- Understanding of Supply Chain or Planning processes
- Positive character, committed to delivering and able to work under pressure
Duties:
- Plan effectively based on customer demand and forecast
- Monitor and control inventory of raw materials and components
- Manage supply review and stock replenishments to ensure availability as per forecast
- Work closely with internal departments to meet customer delivery schedules
- Source and purchase necessary materials, parts, and services in a timely manner
- Coordinate the return of damaged or improperly shipped materials with vendors
- Work with production and maintenance personnel to meet their material and parts needs
- Maintain raw material and parts master data
- Maintain purchasing records, review late open orders, and expedite delivery with suppliers
- Develop and enhance long-term supplier relationships
- Verify and rectify any non-3-way match invoices with vendors and internal members
- Identify and support productivity initiatives for best quality at best cost
- Prepare and solicit bids and quotations as needed
