Job Posting: Certified Medical Coder - Hospital

Location: Remote, must be local to Hawaii due to compliance

Pay Rate: $35hr to $38/hr, depending on experience level


Position Overview

We are seeking a Certified Medical Coder to join our team. This fully remote position offers the opportunity for contract-to-hire. The ideal candidate will perform coding duties in accordance with established regulations and coding conventions, ensuring compliance with relevant guidelines.


Education/License/Certification Requirements

  • Required Certifications:

    • Certified Coding Associate (CCA)

    • Eligibility for Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)

  • Educational Background:

    • Completion of courses in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, ICD-10, CPT coding conventions, and disease processes from an accredited program.

    • High school diploma or GED required.


Qualifications

  • Experience:

    • 2+ years of continuous hospital coding/abstracting experience within the last 5 years.

  • Skills:

    • Ability to understand clinical content of health records.

    • Effective communication skills to clarify diagnoses and procedures with physicians.

    • Proficient in meeting quantity and quality standards for Coders I (95% compliance rate).

    • Basic PC skills, including proficiency in Excel.


Duties

  • Review medical records to accurately identify diagnoses and procedures.

  • Organize and prioritize work to ensure timely coding that complies with regulatory requirements.

  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of procedures concerning the sequencing of diagnoses and procedures, as outlined in relevant coding systems.



Pay Details: $35.00 to $38.00 per hour
