Policy Manual Consultant (West Sacramento, CA)
LHH is teaming up with a public sector-focused organization in Sacramento, CA in search of a Policy Manual Consultant to support policy development and consulting services for educational institutions.
This is a unique opportunity to join a mission-driven team that supports school districts across California in aligning their governance policies with evolving legal standards. The organization offers a collaborative and professional environment, with a strong emphasis on training, mentorship, and impactful work. The role includes facilitating workshops, guiding stakeholders through complex policy language, and helping districts implement best practices.
The ideal candidate is an experienced facilitator with a background in policy evaluation or analysis—particularly in education or public administration. They are comfortable working with diverse stakeholders, including elected officials, and can clearly explain technical content. Strong communication, project management, and analytical skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilitate in-person policy development workshops across California.
Guide school board members and staff through policy manuals and updates.
Explain the rationale behind policy language and legal standards.
Incorporate stakeholder input into policy recommendations.
Provide technical assistance and consultative services to educational institutions.
Manage workshop logistics, documentation, and follow-up.
Maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in education policy, public policy, administration, or related field (required).
3–5 years of experience in research or analysis, preferably in education, nonprofit, or legislative settings.
Demonstrated experience in workshop facilitation and policy evaluation.
Proficiency in Excel and CRM/policy tracking tools.
Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle (required for travel).
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Job Type: Full-time, limited-term (at least 2 years)
Start Date: As soon as possible
Location: Hybrid – West Sacramento, CA (3 days on-site, 2 days remote). Willingness and ability to travel throughout California 50% of the time.
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM with some flexibility required
Pay Rate: $62,000 – $73,000/year
Benefits: CalPERS (Health and Retirement)
