LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a client to hire a Staff Accountant for a contract opportunity in West Sacramento, California. In this role, you will collaborate with maintaining general ledger accounts, preparing financial reports, and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. Ideally, you will possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
PLEASE NOTE: All duties for this role are performed at the client’s office in West Sacramento, California. This is not a remote opportunity.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Assist in the preparation of management reports and financial summaries.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures.
Prepare journal entries and ensure proper documentation.
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
Monitor and manage outstanding receivables and follow up on collections.
Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
Analyze budget variances and provide explanations to management.
Support the development of financial models for decision-making.
Assist with internal and external audits, including preparing audit schedules and providing necessary documentation.
Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.
Support the implementation of accounting policies and procedures.
Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives.
Provide support for other accounting and finance tasks as needed.
DESIRED SKILLS & BACKGROUND
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or finance.
Prior use of Yardi accounting software
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation or progress toward certification. (Preferred)
Experience in real estate or property management (Preferred)
