Position Summary:

Our client, a leader in aerospace and defense are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer who will contribute technical expertise in mechanical design and product development, playing a dual role that includes engineering design, analysis, technical support, and elements of project management. The role reports to the Chief Engineer and supports efforts ranging from conceptual design through validation, testing, and field support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mechanical Design & Modeling:
    • Use PTC Creo to model a range of components including rotating systems, brakes, actuators, valves, sheet metal structures, and composite aerospace assemblies.
    • Support both high-level conceptual design and detailed component-level development.
  • Engineering Analysis:
    • Perform basic and advanced analyses using FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS) for strength, fatigue, vibration, thermal performance, and motion.
    • Evaluate designs using engineering principles including stress analysis, modal analysis, and fluid mechanics.
  • Testing & Documentation:
    • Create and assist with test procedures, including qualification, validation, and acceptance testing.
    • Conduct investigative and qualification testing to meet military and aerospace standards.
    • Prepare technical reports for internal teams and external stakeholders across multi-year development programs.
  • Support for Product Development & Manufacturing:
    • Assist with hands-on assembly and rework of mechanical and packaging designs.
    • Provide support to production teams in troubleshooting and refining components during initial and ongoing production runs.
    • Work with the drafting team to develop and check detailed 2D drawings and 3D annotated CAD models.
  • Collaboration & Project Support:
    • Work cross-functionally with electrical, systems, and manufacturing engineers to meet project requirements.
    • Communicate directly and professionally with customers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure project goals are achieved.
    • Support the integration of new technologies to enhance product reliability, performance, and safety.

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Professional experience in mechanical engineering design and systems development in aerospace or defense industries.
  • Proficiency with PTC Creo or similar CAD tools for complex modeling.
  • Experience using FEA software (such as ANSYS) for detailed engineering analysis.
  • Strong understanding and practical use of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Solid background in mechanical design principles, including stress and fluid analysis.
  • Strong time management, problem-solving, and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams and interface effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Business and technical awareness to support project and product objectives.
