Our client, a leader in aerospace and defense is seeking a Project Engineer that will play a key leadership role in the engineering lifecycle from proposal and design through development, testing, and delivery. This role involves both technical leadership and cross-functional coordination, ensuring that programs meet performance, cost, and schedule objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering Program Management:
- Lead engineering activities throughout the program lifecycle including proposal, design, analysis, and qualification testing.
- Manage schedules, budgets, risk assessments, and deliverables.
- Technical Communication & Documentation:
- Prepare and review technical documents, reports, and presentations.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers and suppliers.
- Represent engineering in formal coordination meetings and reviews.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with Design, Reliability, Manufacturing, Quality, and Program Management teams.
- Ensure product compliance with performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Leadership & Team Coordination:
- Lead project teams and guide them toward achieving milestones.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to future program direction.
- Customer & Supplier Interaction:
- Interface with both commercial and military clients and vendors.
- Conduct technical evaluations and site visits as necessary (occasional travel required).
- System & Component Engineering:
- Develop specifications for subcontracted components.
- Apply technical knowledge of hydraulic and electromechanical systems to product development.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards including MIL specs and AS9100 quality systems.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
- Proven experience in aerospace or defense-related projects, preferably involving hydraulic or electromechanical systems.
- Familiarity with hoists, winches, and related aerospace equipment is a strong plus.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and project management abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- Solid understanding of aerospace materials, manufacturing processes, and applicable standards.
- Must be eligible under ITAR requirements.
- Exceptional communication skills: written, verbal, and presentation.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience working with MIL specifications and civil aerospace requirements.
- Familiarity with AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
- Experience in both individual contributor and team leadership roles.
