Our client, a leader in aerospace and defense is seeking a Project Engineer that will play a key leadership role in the engineering lifecycle from proposal and design through development, testing, and delivery. This role involves both technical leadership and cross-functional coordination, ensuring that programs meet performance, cost, and schedule objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Program Management:
    • Lead engineering activities throughout the program lifecycle including proposal, design, analysis, and qualification testing.
    • Manage schedules, budgets, risk assessments, and deliverables.
  • Technical Communication & Documentation:
    • Prepare and review technical documents, reports, and presentations.
    • Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers and suppliers.
    • Represent engineering in formal coordination meetings and reviews.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with Design, Reliability, Manufacturing, Quality, and Program Management teams.
    • Ensure product compliance with performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Leadership & Team Coordination:
    • Lead project teams and guide them toward achieving milestones.
    • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to future program direction.
  • Customer & Supplier Interaction:
    • Interface with both commercial and military clients and vendors.
    • Conduct technical evaluations and site visits as necessary (occasional travel required).
  • System & Component Engineering:
    • Develop specifications for subcontracted components.
    • Apply technical knowledge of hydraulic and electromechanical systems to product development.
    • Ensure adherence to industry standards including MIL specs and AS9100 quality systems.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in aerospace or defense-related projects, preferably involving hydraulic or electromechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with hoists, winches, and related aerospace equipment is a strong plus.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and project management abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Solid understanding of aerospace materials, manufacturing processes, and applicable standards.
  • Must be eligible under ITAR requirements.
  • Exceptional communication skills: written, verbal, and presentation.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working with MIL specifications and civil aerospace requirements.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience in both individual contributor and team leadership roles.
