Property Accountant
Location: Wilmington, DE (Onsite)
Compensation: $70,000 – $80,000 annually, depending on experience
Status: Full-time | Exempt

LHH is working with a real estate/ construction company with a strong presence in the Mid-Atlantic region to hire a Property Accountant to support their commercial and residential property portfolios.
Role Summary:
This role supports a portfolio of real estate assets by delivering accurate financial reporting, providing insight into property performance, and ensuring compliance with internal and external accounting standards. It offers exposure to both operational and strategic aspects of the accounting function and partners closely with internal stakeholders in property and asset management.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of commercial and/or residential properties, ensuring activity is accurately reflected in the books
Perform monthly reconciliations for bank accounts and general ledger balances to support the close process
Generate monthly and quarterly financial packages, highlighting key variances and supporting ongoing performance reviews
Monitor property cash flow and help manage outgoing payments, maintaining awareness of upcoming obligations and funding needs
Coordinate with management teams to resolve accounting-related questions and ensure alignment on financial objectives
Prepare recurring reports required by lenders and support compliance activities
Partner with auditors and tax professionals to support annual audit and filing timelines
Assist with ad hoc analysis, reporting, and special projects as requested by leadership
What You Bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
2+ years of experience in property or real estate accounting
CPA or working toward certification is a plus
Experience using accounting or property management software (MRI is a plus)
Solid Excel skills and comfort working with financial data
Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to work independently
A team-oriented mindset and strong interpersonal communication skills
