Job Title: Benefits Manager
Location: Yuba City, CA
Pay Range: $100,000 – $110,000 annually
Schedule: Full-time, Onsite

Overview:

A leading organization in Yuba City is seeking an experienced Benefits Manager to oversee and manage all benefit and retirement programs. This role requires extensive knowledge of benefits administration, reporting, and auditing. The ideal candidate is proactive, highly organized, and well-versed in compliance, budgeting, and employee communication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all benefit and retirement programs and ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.

  • Handle confidential employee information with discretion.

  • Conduct and support benefits audits, providing necessary documentation and preparing reconciliations.

  • Analyze and recommend updates to benefits plans and procedures.

  • Prepare quarterly benefits budget reports and monitor costs.

  • Coordinate with auditors and ERISA attorneys on plan documentation and annual filings.

  • Maintain and update pension records and process retiree payments.

  • Prepare and submit Form 5500s, Form 8955-SSA, PBGC premium filings, and other required government forms.

  • Maintain organized records and reports related to benefits and retirement accounts.

  • Manage QDRO reviews, 401(k) distributions, and beneficiary designations.

  • Serve as committee secretary for all retirement plans and coordinate annual meetings.

  • Stay current on changes in laws affecting benefit programs and implement necessary updates.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.

Experience:

  • 5–7 years of experience in a Benefits Manager role.

  • Experience supporting a workforce of 200+ employees.

  • Union environment experience preferred.

Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Highly analytical with strong problem-solving abilities.

  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.

  • Experience with payroll/HRIS systems (UKG preferred).

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
