Benefits Manager (Yuba City, CA)

LHH is teaming up with a Food Manufacturing organization in Yuba City, CA in search of a Benefits Manager to support the administration and compliance of employee benefit and retirement programs.



This is an exciting opportunity to join a mission-driven organization that values operational excellence and employee well-being. The Benefits Manager will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and effectiveness of benefit offerings, while also contributing to strategic improvements. The team is collaborative, and the work has a meaningful impact on the organization’s workforce.



The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in managing complex benefit and retirement plans. They should be comfortable working with sensitive information, navigating audits, and interpreting regulatory changes. Strong communication and analytical skills are essential, as is the ability to work independently and cross-functionally.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all benefit and retirement plans, including health, welfare, and pension programs.

  • Conduct and support audits, prepare reconciliations, and ensure compliance with IRS, DOL, and PBGC regulations.

  • Maintain and update plan documents, filings (e.g., Form 5500, 8955-SSA), and participant communications.

  • Analyze benefit costs and trends, and recommend updates to programs and processes.

  • Coordinate with legal counsel and external vendors to ensure plan integrity and compliance.

  • Serve as secretary for retirement plan committees and prepare for annual meetings.

  • Review and process QDROs, 1099-Rs, and participant status updates.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Human Resources, or Business Administration.

  • 5–7 years of experience managing benefits for 200+ employees, preferably in a union environment.

  • Strong knowledge of benefit regulations and reporting requirements.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll/benefits systems (UKG preferred).

  • High level of discretion and attention to detail.


Job Type: Direct Hire

Start Date: Early July 2025

Location: Yuba City, CA

Hours: Full-time, standard business hours

Salary: $100,000 – $120,000/year, depending on experience
