Robert Ampomah
Civil Engineer
Robert has over 27 years’ experience in the rail industry starting his career as a graduate civil engineer and has achieved a wealth of experience in a number of technical, managerial and leadership roles within maintenance, operations management and Engineering functions at Balfour Beatty and Network Rail.
He has been involved in delivering key performance, safety and innovative engineering solutions on the UK mainline networks to improve passenger experience.
He now heads up the Technology team in Network Rail focussing on creating the structure, energy and throughput of innovation and legal compliance through diverse teams to deliver solutions that help to reduce cost, improve safety and performance, and achieve environmental and climate resilient benefits for rail.
He is a passionate promoter of developing people and skills from diverse backgrounds, through the introduction of new technology and working collaboratively with industry partners in the UK and across Europe, including engaging and learning from different sectors.
