Backend Software Engineer- Real-time IoT platforms

For an innovative Software House committed to delivering high-quality cloud-native applications to its customers, we are looking for a Software Engineer with demonstrable expertise in backend development, interested in growing his skills in cloud-native technologies (e.g., Kubernetes) and cloud automation tools (e.g., Terraform)

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate is a graduate (Bachelor, Master of Science) in Computer Engineering or Computer Science (or affine degrees), fluent in both Italian and English, with excellent communication skills, autonomous and responsible in her/his work;

She/he has a portfolio of previously completed works done in first person (University projects counting as well); of each such work, she/he is capable to discuss the technical tradeoffs that were operated during their development.

Responsibilities

As part of her/his everyday job, she/he will be responsible for the development of rich and complex Web applications, specifically on the backend side. She/he will regularly propose innovative approaches that challenge our technical status-quo, with the goal of improving the quality and the efficiency of Operations teams: being a team player is thus a mandatory quality;

She/he should also be able to envision the "under-the-hood" quirks and complications of backend applications and distributed systems. As we periodically organize internal training sessions, she/he should also be able to clearly focus on a professional development path and allow to help in the development of such path.

Your Profile

• Experience with Java 8+/.Net (C#)
• Experience with MVC / REST paradigms;
• Experience with traditional RDBMS (MySQL and PostgreSQL, mainly);
• Proficient use of GIT;
• Commitment in developing software following industry best practices (e.g. design patterns, DDD, DRY, ...);
• Exposure to resilient and scalable (micro)service-oriented architecture
• Exposure to asynchronous models of communications, as well as reactive and distributed systems;
• A taste for humor and exposure to Internet memes

Nice-to-haves:

• Experience with either Spring (Boot, Security, Data) or Quarkus;
• Experience with other languages and frameworks for backend development (C#, Node, Go, Elixir);
• Experience with software testing methodologies (e.g. BDD, TDD);
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodology;
• Experience with containerization (Docker, mainly) and Kubernetes ecosystem;
• Experience with public Cloud providers (AWS and GCP, mainly) and Infrastructure-as-Code concepts (e.g., Terraform);
• Experience with Kafka, Apache Spark and/or Flink, for streaming and real-time applications
